The Valley of the Kings

A cold wind was blowing when the twins, Dan and Stan, ran out to play in the garden. Stan suggested they dig a big hole. He enjoyed digging. He had been given a spade for his birthday. His mother was sure he was going to be an archaeologist. A present for Dan had been more difficult. Feeling unsure of Dan's talents, she had given him a jumper with a whale knitted on the front. So Dan had to use his father's spade, which was a little too large for him. They dug the deepest hole, working on it every day. Do you think we will reach the Valley of the Kings? Stan asked Dan. Instead, one day when they came out the hole had filled with water.
