Playing with Keys

Ann Inoshita

An apartment with a sink of dishes and a trail of ants feasting
          on days old pizza crust.

Ants feast to my tune. Lights move and massage me.
          Type to the 'C', 'D', 'A', 'E', 'F', 'B'.

Keys form a picture of leaves with sounds of water nearby
then wind blows away children in the leaves.

I stop typing so children can fall gently back to the ground
then I type slowly, softly again.

Now, children play in cool water next to leaves in the sun.

Walls move as I type
and become hedges that hold up the ceiling.

Hedges harden and turn into stone walls that grow higher
until a thick stone ceiling is built.

I stop typing and the walls remain,
so I type slowly and hope the stone changes back to wood.

Lights move and massage me.
          Type to the 'C', 'D', 'A', 'E', 'F', 'B'.

Nothing changes, so I keep typing.

Then
               finally
                              stone
                                             becomes
                                                                 thinner.

Walls.          Ceiling.          Everything is back.          AGAIN.
