It's better to go out at night
reach out and touch the walls
the walls of another house,
another house beside the window
look in and see lives
lives being lived metres away,
metres away is only a pin's throw.
streets with lots of letterboxes
letterboxes delivered every day,
every day there's a new number.
the school kid with junk mail
junk mail from shopping malls,
malls with all the same shops
everything is inside from that
that rain is channeled underground,
under ground more difficult to find.
I live in a house in a suburb like this
like this place full of paintings,
paintings of landscapes without houses.
Somewhere we all dream about living
living in days with less to be seen,
to be seen less, it's better to go out at night.
At night when there's more space.
