After the powhiri we had some kai
and then some drinks. Everyone drinks

mainly at the back of the marae. My Auntie
Hemo has a guitar and soon all the songs

came out: What a wonderful world (Grandad's
favourite), and some others I can't remember.

I sing a few, then turn and talk to my Uncle
Turi. 'How did it go over there?'

Then I said I apologised for the hurts
caused the family by what I wrote, and that

they won't appear again. Great Grandpa Turi's
favourite saying was, days will tell . . .
