Drive
minimal conversation
atheistic by arrangement
two cups
of coffee
tables chairs
and faces waving
at luxuriant courtyard
flax palms maidenhair ferns
noting an epiphyte
from biology
he cannot explain
the thrill and the lift
of this
simpleness
being simple
so archaic
nor the ache
at thinking a late
explanation
he likes this
yet unsure
wants to 'stick around'
and when they reach
her car
the poor boy's pride
twists inside
wanting so much
being so poor
at least
to touch as the ache tells
him to run for the one
he just left
and misses
